Nach etwa 15 Jahren Mitgliedschaft im informellen Interlis-Kernteam und zwei Jahren in der offiziellen Nachfolgegruppe SOGI GGMM, habe ich mich kürzlich aus diesem Interlis-Gremium zurückgezogen. Der Grund liegt hauptsächlich darin, dass meine Prioritäten in der Geo-Normierung in Themen liegen, die in dieser Arbeitsgruppe nur peripher abgedeckt werden. Nichts destotrotz möchte ich aus diesem Anlass meine Gedanken zur Vergangenheit und Zukunft von Interlis festhalten.

Given a 3rd party Debian package repository such as apt.postgresql.org how do you make sure, that the packages respectively the services that are provided by the packages, such as a Postgresql DB server, get automatically updated?

apt-dater (package available) is a really handy tool to update Debian packages on a large fleet of servers.

You install and configure it, add your company’s hosts into it and then you can keep an eye on outstanding package updates and update the whole fleet with a few key strokes.

But can you manage company servers and separately from that your own machines with apt-dater?
